Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins in tuxedos in a scene from Meet Joe Black

I love the movie „Meet Joe Black“ and if I would have to pick a favorite movie, that would be it.

The story is just amazing. A wise and successful man — William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) comes to his end, but he gets a chance from Death to stay alive for a few more days and be aware. The only thing Death requests in return is that he should support his temporary embodied earthly version (Brad Pitt), so he can learn more about life.

I will not go further into the movie, as no teaser is worth the entertainment that you get 🙌

However, in real life, we may not be wealthy, healthy, and aware, especially in our last days, when the unwanted visitor comes to visit us.
It is just a moment when we know that our time has passed.

So it’s time to use the good times to prepare for the bad times.
It’s time to prepare the final and last act of rebellion in this life :)

The Day after the unwanted visitor came….

This day will come. It’s just that simple. The only thing we can do is embrace and prepare ourselves for the moment of departure, and maybe the days after :)

Anthony Hopkins beside his quote that none of us are getting out of here alive

I have thought very deeply about my funeral and the way I want to leave this wonderful experience.

I had the chance to attend a few funerals and I just can’t get used to it. It’s just sad. I know everyone is in pain, I feel that pain also, and that’s why I avoid them as much as possible.

But do I want my last day to be something like that? Do I want people to think of me on my final day like that? Do I want all this sadness after such a wonderful life?

No, not my style 😏

At my funeral, I don’t want people to cry. I don’t want a sad funeral, I don’t want my last day to be remembered like that.

I want to have a show with music (this should be the first song), food and drinks, a stage, and a great fucking awesome public. I want friends and family there to share stories, experiences, and moments that we lived together.

I don’t want people to be sad, because I lived a dream life.
I want them to laugh and use the day to open up my portal for the next life with love, laughter, and compassion. Laugh motherflowers 🤣🤣

I want them to remember I tried my best and did mistakes and corrected some and made some others, but also did some good here and there.

My tribe should look after my children and give them the tough love that they need, in order to become strong and independent to figure out this life.

At the end of the day, I want that my friends and family (you know who you are) to have a last trip with me together. A ritual of saying goodbye with love.

To my wife, my soul mate, you were the best thing I ever had. And you know that I only wanted you to live fully. So don’t waste your time on grieving and live life. Find love again and enjoy every day you have.

PS:

Death is nothing at all

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
