Life is a series of interconnected decisions, events, and moments that shape our paths. Along this journey, we cross paths with those who leave a permanent impact on us and touch our hearts forever. Sometimes, despite the best intentions and deepest connections, life circumstances lead us apart. Yet, even when we are no longer together, the memories of those beautiful moments remain, offering solace and a reminder of what once was and what could have been.
Often, you find yourself reminiscing about someone who was once the love of your life, your parents, or maybe friends who no longer accompany you on this journey. At some point, these individuals were the most important people in your life. But life has a way of changing things. The reasons for separation may vary — perhaps a series of life events pushing you toward a higher calling, mistakes made by oneself, the other, or both, words spoken in anger that can’t be taken back, actions not thought through, opinions of others who claim to know what’s best, or the loss of a loved one to another realm. At some point, you just knew deep down that this chapter had ended, and you moved on, but the memories of the good times linger along with the endless torment of what-ifs. You can’t help but miss that person sometimes from time to time, sometimes day to day, and sometimes all the time.
In those moments of dwelling in the past, it is sometimes impossible to distinguish if you loved the person, the idea of that person, the idea of that relationship, or even who you were in that relationship. Often, things turn out differently than what we imagined at the beginning. The “why” was crystal clear back then, but today it’s more blurred than ever.
You may wonder if, after all these years, you would have done things differently. Would you have seen the bigger picture instead of letting triggered emotions lead you? Would you have enjoyed the present more and said the things that needed to be said? Maybe it is the regret of being foolish or the daydream effect of wishful thinking, living in a parallel universe where time hasn’t passed and all “if’s” are resolved for the ultimate perfect outcome.
There is a moment that everyone and all relationships share — the place where it all began. The initial moment when your eyes met, and the world seemed to pause, the first memory you recall. You introduced yourselves, and for a brief period, everything was perfect. It was a time filled with endless possibilities, untainted by the challenges that would later arise. In that moment, love, hope, bliss, and euphoria guided you forward, painting your world in vibrant colors.
Until now, I called that point — Point Zero, but now I call it the Aleph since I experienced this in Ayahuasca in Costa Rica together with the way how to explain this experience — through the Book “Aleph” by Paulo Coelho.
Aleph is the point in space and time that contains all other points, offering a view of everything in the universe simultaneously from every angle.

This first encounter, where everything was still possible and untouched by the passage of time, becomes a sanctuary in your mind. It is a place where you can revisit the person you once cherished, a haven where all the memories, especially the good ones, reside. The Aleph is the most beautiful moment etched in your memory, a snapshot of pure potential and unblemished connection.
As life moved on, things changed. Decisions were made, events unfolded, and different paths were chosen. Difficult and hard partings were necessary steps to continue your journey alone and forward. The what-ifs and the essence of the Aleph, however, remain untouched — a perfect bubble only for you to enjoy. By revisiting this place, you can reconnect with the feelings of love and joy that once defined you. It’s a bittersweet reminder that despite how things turned out, there was a time when everything was just right.
This practice of revisiting the past is not about dwelling on what could have been or reopening old wounds. Instead, it is about honoring the beautiful moments that were and finding comfort in them. It’s a way to keep the positive aspects of your connection alive, even if the relationship itself could not endure.
In the grand tapestry of life, these memories serve as threads of gold, weaving through the fabric of your experiences. They remind you of the beauty of human connection, the potential for love, and the joy that can be found in simple moments. So, the next time you find yourself missing someone from your past, take a journey back to “The Aleph.”
Let the memory of that perfect moment fill you with warmth and gratitude, and allow it to be a source of strength as you continue your own path forward, even if it is without them.
