In this update I say I have reached 94 hours without food. I have been to the gym and played padel. I describe feeling charged with energy, then mention pain in my lower back.
The explanation I give in the video needs a clear correction: back pain is not evidence that stem cells are activating or that the body is repairing itself through autophagy. The clip contains no measurement that could establish either claim. It does not tell us the cause of the pain.
A symptom is not a progress badge
I refer to a guide that lays out stages of fasting. A timeline can feel reassuring because it gives every sensation a place in a story. But matching a symptom to a promised stage does not verify what is happening medically.
A new symptom deserves attention on its own terms. The NHS lists back pain with weakness or numbness in both legs, or new bladder or bowel problems, as reasons for emergency care.[1] Sudden severe pain or rapidly worsening pain also needs urgent assessment. These examples are not a diagnosis of what happened in my video.
The practical point is to seek appropriate care, rather than continue a prolonged fast or demanding workout because an online guide calls the pain “healing.” My autophagy article explains the gap between a cellular process and the claims made about it.
What did the scale actually show?
Near the end I estimate that I may have lost four or five kilograms and say I plan to weigh myself the next day. That is an important detail: this clip gives a guess before a reported weigh-in, not a measured result.
Even a properly recorded change in body weight would not, by itself, establish how much body fat changed. A scale measures total mass. It does not identify each component of that change or prove improved health. Appearance on camera cannot fill that gap either.
| Statement in the update | What this video establishes |
|---|---|
| I feel energetic | A personal report of how I feel |
| My lower back hurts | A reported symptom; its cause is not established |
| I may have lost 4–5 kg | An estimate, without a shown measurement |
| Cells are repairing themselves | No supporting measurement in the clip |
Keep care ahead of the target
The video ends with plans for finishing the fast and training afterwards. It does not establish that this combination is safe. NCCIH warns that going without food for days while drinking large amounts of water can cause dangerous electrolyte imbalances.[2]
A number of hours is not a health score. Nor is a smaller-looking waist proof that everything happening inside the body is beneficial. Read the reflection on returning to eating for the missing context behind the meal plans.
The experience belongs in the record. So does the limit of what I could know from it.
